Voices of Mississippi

The impact of our reporting is best measured by the people who read it, use it, and act on it. From community members to public officials, these voices highlight why independent journalism matters for Mississippi — and how it makes a difference in everyday lives.

Our Funding

Mississippi Today operates as a nonprofit newsroom under Deep South Today, incorporated in 2014 and recognized as a 501(c)(3) public charity in 2015 (EIN #47-2158741). All donations are tax-deductible.

Our work is sustained through a mix of grants from foundations, contributions from individual donors, corporate sponsorships, event sponsorships, and advertising. We publicly disclose all donors and sponsors who contribute $1,000 or more annually, ensuring full transparency.

Corporate Sponsorships

We accept gifts, grants, and sponsorships to support both general operations and specific projects, but editorial decisions remain independent. Financial supporters have no role in shaping our journalism. We decline donations that could compromise our integrity or present a conflict of interest.
